2.0 and rep rewards

So with items now being purchased with honor points, what happens to all of us who were gradually working up rep in Alterac Valley for instance, trying to reach exalted so we could buy the +dmg off-hand?

Is it just "Oh well. Too bad for you." or do i get some honor points equal to what i've earned so far?

All of the reputation rewards will be moved in to the new honor system which will start with everyone at zero. If you're currently working towards a specific reward you will need to reach it before the patch or you will have to start over in the new honor system.

It's necessary to start everyone at zero as honor and reputations from the old systems just can't be translated properly to the new system as they're not consistent.
