I just talked with a Blizzard Tech. He told me when this happens to immediately log in on another character on the same account. See if my problem character shows up as on-line in this character's friend's list. If she does, an in-game GM should be able to do things that "reset" my problem character. I'll let you all know if this gets me anywhere.
