It is ridiculous that I feel I have to get a "no downtime on Tuesday" mmorpg, just to play on Tuesday.

It is ridiculous that this will boost the subscription numbers, of one of your competitors.

Ridiculous.

I work overnight. When I get home at 6 am that is my PRIME TIME. I want to relax, so I go to play wow for a bit and pvp and what not. Every Tuesday, I am denied. This gets old.

I remember previous mmorpgs where downtime was initially weekly, then they ironed things out and moved what little downtime they had to have around more (so the same people were not always reamed.)

Ridiculous.

You keep using that word—"ridiculous." I do not think it means what you think it means.

Our present maintenance schedule was chosen after careful deliberation and review of global population statistics, wherein number of active players was compared to time of day. The frame in which realm concurrency proved the smallest was Tuesday morning between the hours of 5am and 11am PST. Thus, in effort to reduce the impact downtime would have on our player base as a whole, we chose—and continue to push—Tuesday as "the day" to conduct maintenance. That your work schedule conflicts with ours is just unfortunate, not ridiculous. =/
