Account hacked - all gold stolen - questions

Hi,

My account was hacked on Thursday after I logged off in the morning. I logged out in front of SSC to prepare for a raid, and found my self in Shatt with 0 G with my character. All my gold was stolen (3.3k - which I was saving for my epic flying mount), but my items and gear were intact. All other account info. was unchanged too.

I checked my other bank alts and their items were untouched too. It looks like only the gold was stolen, and nothing else. I submitted an in-game petition to the GM to have my gold restored. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to ask too many questions, so I'm hoping I can get some answers here.

1. Will my gold be restored fully? Or am I stuck without it ? I can't see myself playing this game and grinding all that gold from scratch. So I really hope it can be restored. My guild leader was also hacked 1-2 months ago, but he had his and the entire guild bank restored. Will I get all my gold back too ?

2. What happens to all the gold I save up from this point? If a 'restoration' is going to take place, will it roll over to before the hack, and will I loose all the gold collected from that point? I quested heavily today to make some gold to cover repairs for tomorrow's raid, and I hope any gold I make before a possible restore will stay with me.

3. How long does a restore take?

On a side note, I'm pretty shocked how easily all my gold just disappeared within one night. I run a firewall, spyware protection and always use NoScript w Firefox while surfing. Is Blizzard taking any precautions on their end to keep our keys and account info. safe?

I'm just shocked - I grinded really hard for that gold (on this toon). I was hoping to get my epic flying this weekend. Now its all .... gone.

We are unable to guarantee any restoration, my friend; however, I assure you that in the cause of unauthorized access, it is our goal to restore the account to how it was left prior to the compromise.

No. You will not lose any progress that has been made since the compromise occurred. If your character is found to be eligible for restoration, the items will be restored to your character. Your character will not experience a rollback.

Unfortunately, only time will tell. Due to the intricacies of each investigation, investigations can vary in time. Currently, your investigation is is queue.
