Being banned for holding a monopoly.

Seems some people I know have been banned for posting too many auctions. They said blizzard told them they were holding a monopoly. How true is this? If this is the case how many auctions can one character have before blizzard bans then for ruining the economy?

No you haven't.

You may know some people that have been banned for botting.

You may know some people that have been banned for buying or selling gold.

You know no one that has been banned for 'too many' auctions, or holding a monopoly since that just isn't done, as others have stated - the AH is a free market as long as everything is legitimately obtained.
