Shaman community dialogue

It's been almost 3 months since the great Dot Shock of November, one which ended with a nice blue post from Netheara that gave shaman some hope.

I would love to be able to talk to people about this, but right now, my time is being focused on cleaning out the forums. When people get into the office, we can start a dialogue based on the concerns the Shaman community has, but the current spamming trend has to stop. It does not make people look as if they have rational concerns but instead gives the impression of a temper tantrum being thrown and I KNOW that people don't want that impression to color their concerns. Genuine concerns are always taken seriously.

I have great empathy for the community when something is bothering them, but it makes it very difficult to maintain that when they are purposefully disrupting the forums. I would like to urge everyone to get back to posting on these forums, their concerns in a constructive manner.

I'm going to close this thread only because I don't wan't it to be the thread that carries those concerns. I'd rather it be something fresh and well thought-out. Thanks.

*Just as a quick aside, I'm not sure who might have been banned for what, so please don't bring that into this. We're in the right now and provided people aren't posting obscenities or spamming/trolling, or breaking the Code of Conduct, there should be no reason to suspend anyone else.

The spamming trend stopped, but the dialogue never happened. Will your people ever get back to the office? Im starting to get worried, it's been a while now they might be missing or something.

I'll respond here for you Garmel since you asked.

I know that Eyonix has been working hard to get feedback and funnel it on behalf of the Shaman community. I also know he's posted when he could since then. Unfortunately, what we've been doing isn't always transparent and we'll continue to work on that as much as we can. We have not been trying to cause further frustration or anything of the sort, but sometimes we just don't have any more to say without sounding like, "We'll let you know." We have all been working as a team to gather as much information as possible.

We have been paying very close attention to the feedback threads at the top of the forum. You could say that this is our way of being a bit more direct in the type of feedback we're looking for.

While it may be frustrating, we may not always be able to bring you direct feedback. We may not have anything to share right away or even awhile later. Please don't take that to mean that we aren't still reading and funneling feedback.

So you pretty much said we'd have a 'discussion' only to appease us and stop the spam....right?

For your sake I pray Shamans don't get another nerf in 2.4, we're all waiting anxiously to bus shock again.

No, but we can only bring you what we're able to discuss beyond internal discussions. I know that people are frustrated and want more information. We'll continue to give what we can where we can. For some, it's enough, for others it's not. We can only do so much and do appreciate and value the constructive discussions that continue to go on in the forums.

As for what we've been carrying to the Developers, we tend to avoid doing that only so that it doesn't give a false sense that there will be change based on what we've given. Sometimes the answer is, "yes", sometimes it's "no", and sometimes it's "maybe, we'll see". We're taking note of the most regularly reported feedback points in the topmost sticky if that helps give you any idea of what we've been keeping an eye on.

We're entering into the Sunwell Isle patch with some care in how we implement change for the various classes. We will be continuing to take note of feedback on the PTR as well as continued feedback in the top sticky and the forums themselves. We just have a tendency to do alot more reading than we can responding. I could come and visit and say, "hi" now and then but some don't tend to take too kindly to that. ;)

its almost like neth is throwing the devs under the bus here. only w/o outright saying it.

No. What I'm saying is that not all feedback can relate to an immediate change. It's not practical. We work with the Development Team to share information with them on the community feedback and along with our own internal information, work forward from there. Some things take more time than others. Our job is to do the best we can to convey that to the community and share with them what we can. For some, what we can is enough, for others, it's not, but we all work as a part of a larger team for what is best for the community and the game as a whole.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if you feel there is something more the Community Team can do, please forward feedback to wowcmfeedback@blizzard.com.

I think one of the bigger issues is that things are promised and never delivered. Back in the era where all the classes were getting drastically reviewed (I don't remember what patch it was), we got reviewed, and eyonix promised to see some more changes come about. He promptly left for vacation then was on sick leave, forcing another CM to take over his position who did not necessarily know the shaman class very well.

Now, I'm not complaining about the eyonix thing, just that the changes promised never happened. The shaman class has been promised much, but the promises rarely come about. And changes are often implemented without discussing it with the class prior to, and many changes aren't always the best choices to be had.

I understand.

Something tells me Shamans and the Shaman Forum are the inside joke between the CMs and maybe even the devs now. I just get that feeling :)

Neth, thanks for taking the time to respond to this. I just hope someone has been to bat for us, because with the way the devs have been with Shamans, it's going to take a lot of coercion to get the things done that really need to be.

In the meantime I'll be waiting for that first true "YES".

No. Definitely not an inside joke. Our inside jokes are far more, well, geeky. :(

I understand that people are venting their frustrations. I understand the feelings people have in regard to the past. I can't change those things and would much rather focus on the now and future. I'd also much rather have people post out of passion for something than hearing nothing at all because they are apathetic. I just want to continue to advise that constructive posts are something that we can read and carry on as viable feedback as to the feelings of the community on any particular issue. (This applies to any class or issue.)
