GM names/avatars

Ok, here's my dumb question for the day, but I've always wanted to know...

Do you GMs get to choose your names and avatars? If so, what made you come up with yours? What makes one choose a Syndri, Vrakthris, or Belfaire (to name a few)?

Q u o t e:
(1) Coat brand new GM with honey.
(2) Walk brand new GM up some stairs to a diving board overlooking a tank filled with foam letters.
(3) Blindfold new GM.
(4) Turn new GM's back to tank.
(5) Push new GM into tank.
(6) New GM's name is formed from the letters that stick to him / her.

I especially enjoyed the honey part =D.

They changed it before you arrived. The vinegar didn't work so much.

*Shudders at the memory*

i always have to wonder why Neth would choose a candle, lol.

I'm not a GM (they have all the cool powers *wink*), but I can answer this. ;)

I chose a candle because it can cast both light and create shadow. It can be a symbol of mourning, or joy, of hope, inspiration, romance, or just be the light a writer uses to scrawl words onto paper. It has meaning to each person that looks upon it. It's simple and yet has its own complexities. It's as much a symbol of the light as it is the darker side of things.

I also was able to choose my name. It's basically "of the nether". Again, a space in which many things exist.

Plus, have you ever been charmed by a candle; fixed staring at it for hours, just watching as the wax slowly melts, enchanted by the beauty of the flame’s flicker? Neth is just as engaging . <3

No kidding. If he keeps it up he might get that green text he's be after for so long.

Well, green is my favorite color. :0D

And I really do enjoy Nethaera’s company. Sadly, the last time I got to see her was at BlizzCon. :0( Lunches are a bit harder to do from Texas.
