Versus I love you Blizzard, but you have gone soft, your hammer is weak. Ironically this post will probably get me banned, because criticism is a no no around the forums.
No, Versus, criticism, as long as it abides by our Code of Conduct, is not punished. You are welcome to your option, I'd ask that you refrain from posting inappropriate language and subject matter though as that is a "no no" and can result in penalties being applied to the account. At this point I'd rather just edit it out though.
Really? Because I find racism towards Jews intolerable. I report it and I still see them online and doing it day after day (I see people referring posts in Trade Chat to some1 I have on my ignore/report list.)
We are not fond of it either, Bretherezen, but we do not immediately close accounts due to such infractions. It is not something that we really want to do.
We have always believed in education and allowing the player to learn from their mistakes, to understand that such behavior is not welcome in this environment and to correct that behavior. If they continue the behavior they will climb the penalty volcano and have actions taken that include being temporarily removed from the game and even account closure.

Though that doesn't actually address the issue. The Report Player/Report Spam feature is intended only for "spam". Reporting other possible violations with that tool can mean that such violations do not get properly reviewed.
If you see a potential violation, report it. Provide the name of the person you are reporting (including their realm if this takes place in a cross realm BG or Dungeon), and the nature of the offense. Providing an example of what you are reporting helps our staff to more locate the offending chat in our logs.
Versus, I have looked into several of your reports and when reported appropriately, it does appear that the appropriate actions were taken. Please keep in mind that we are unable to accept reports of harassment about multiple, otherwise unidentified, people. However, if we're provided with the name/realm of the person we can specifically look into, we absolutely do.
While there are differing opinions about our penalty system, as we receive just as many posts saying that we're entirely too harsh, it is important to note that in many cases those that you see "getting away with it" are not always reported, at least not consistently.
It seems over the years there has been this pervasive rumour that we either don't care or that we simply don't do anything. I can tell you that is very far from the truth, and often demonstrated by other posts that you can find in this forum.
It does take a concerted effort though, as that belief has led to a decrease in consistent reporting. The tone of a realm is decided by what its denizens allow to exist.
I can only ask that if you see chat that would be considered inappropriate, even if you are not "offended", report it. Start with the bigger stuff and as that is cleared out I think you'll notice a difference.
