Do the CMs Role-play?

I'm just curious here. Coriel mentioned she did on another thread, so I'm pondering if any others role-play.

If so...in the game, or on the forums?

Yeah...*places 350 FR armor on*

I once rolled on an RP realm as a male Night Elf hunter who always spoke in horrible broken 'olde english'. My goal was to roleplay so horribly, consistently, and without any acknowledgment at any time that I was playing a game, that I would annoy any one who happened to come in contact with me. The game world was now my character's life, and my life story was bound to a macro. Each inconsistency created by a game mechanic or character interaction was proclaimed (/yelled) as evil magics or demonology. Needless to say I lost interest around level 14.

Some of us do, some of us dabble, some of us don't, and some of us have aspirations to annoy.

I thought harassing roleplayers on RP servers was a severe rules infringement. :x

I harassed nothing but the ability to RP correctly, and possibly a few ignore lists.

Drysc, you're a Bad Person; please report to Friend Computer for termination.

I didn't really think you did either, Drysc. I would've thought it was funny, probably. But you did say you went in there with the purpose of annoying people - and goodness knows roleplayers have to deal with enough already. The RP server rules are barely enforced at all, and we're always the target of people coming to harass us when their own servers are down. I just wish I could see more support for maintaining an RP community in this game... and to be honest, your post came off as making fun of it, though I doubt that was your intention. :/

Of course not, I admire RPing from afar and have regularly posted defending the RP community. However, admiration from a great distance is unfortunately all that I am capable of. Much like an admirer of fine pottery, I could see a piece of clay being spun with complexity and beauty, but as I attempt to participate my fingers would pull through the clay as pieces flung across the room leaving the vessel as a shapeless lump of wet dirt. Screams are heard in the distance.

It’s not that my intention was to cause anyone grief, no, I don’t condone nor would I practice the act of going to an RP realm simply to defy the ‘laws’ accepted there, but to RP to such a degree that even other RPers would think me to be too hardcore. Of course I wasn’t able to pull it off, but it was an eventful experiment.

Further proof that RPers can have no fun, or take a joke.

No, no, he's quite right.

Yes, I role-play. I enjoy it and love being able to try out new roles and new ideas. I like challenges too. I can pretty much role-play anything. There are just some roles I enjoy much better than other. I tend to lean toward the darker end of the spectrum than the heroic.

This will not come as a surprise to the members of your anti-fan club.

I have an anti-fan club? *blushes* Awww you shouldn't have!

Since we're asking questions, any particular favorite race to RP, Neth?

I do have a favorite race but I'd prefer not to say. People tend to get either offended, claim bias or feel I am somehow on their side over all others when I do. It's an unfortunate side effect of my role here but I can say that my experience with that particular RP extends over many years of play.

Hah, I'm guessing Undead, too.

Bet you anything she's a Vampire: The Masquerade fan. <laughs>

The show was good (the short time it was on) and I have some of the RPG books but have never played. I just enjoyed the background and stories. I couldn't ever picture getting into the Vampire scene myself but I know people do. I've also never dyed my hair black or wore pretend fangs unless you count those wax ones. Yum!

I collect a variety of books including a lot of different types of mythology, superstition and of course fiction such as fantasy and sci-fi. I even have a few comic books stashed away.

Nethaera doesn't wear fangs... but I do.

Sometimes.

Hey, don't judge!

Also, as I said, Changeling > Vampire.

I haven't tried out Changeling in tabletop mode yet, and somehow I think it'd pale in comparison to running around in the woods after dark dressed as a sprite. (Yeah, laugh it up.)

Werewolf, though... ;)

I don't think I ever got the chance to play Shadowrun though I was going to at one point. I think I was planning to be a decker. :)
