Blizz, Why Not Poll Your Users Directly?

Why can't Blizzard, say ..oh.. every 90 days, put a splash screen up that their users must fill out prior to logging into the game. Allow your users to click whatever three priorities -they- feel is the most important and display the number on Blizzard's website.

Five Things People (Might) Want the Developers to Work On

* The AFK Situation
* Player Housing
* Limiting the /emote, /say & /shout command of trial accounts.
* Additonal Character Slot
* In-Game Raid Calendar

Now these 5 things may be pretty random - but I'm sure Blizzad -really- knows 5 hot topics these days on the minds of their players. Allow your users to rank these from 1 - 5 in order of most importance.

We, as players, can visit your website and see what the players *really* think is important and it shows Blizzard some mostly accurate numbers. It's win-win, no?

What is preventing this from happening?

Well, I guess the main problem with those types of polls is expectation. Which wouldn't necessarily be bad if the expectation is met, but it rarely is due to ... any number of factors I don't really want to get in to it. Once there is categorical and numerical "proof" that something is in such dire need it's no longer a decision of ours to design, create, and export the game, it's now at the whim of the player, which, and I don't know about you, scares me.

In any case, we actually do send out limited surveys through our marketing team. They do touch upon gameplay related topics at times, and we're certainly aware, even outside of those surveys, what the community is discussing and what the hot topics are.

Q u o t e:
It would be *FAR* more accurate than to try and filter through forums, listen to QQing, etc, no?

Not really actually, when there's a "yes" or "no" button with no further concern or information attached to it, it's actually far more inaccurate. It may be a lot easier to filter and count, but certainly not more accurate to the actual thoughts and accounts of the people playing.
