Seriously though, PVPers dont earn there gear at all since expansion. Arenas are a joke and you get gear for being mediocre and little time input. When I was ranking up before expansion it always gave me more incentive to play if I knew next week I would be gaining a new rank. Ranks also showed how much someone put into their character.
Theres no dedication to anything anymore in this game.
PvEers cant afk there way to T4, but PvPers can afk there way to S1 gear.
PvEers cant wipe there way to T6, but PvPers can break even for S3 gear.
It just doesnt make sense to PvE, at least with a honor grind it would make people actually do something in BGs otherwise they will never see the gear.
Possible complaints:
Complaint: "Hey thats not fun! The honor grind sucked!"
Reply: No it didn't really suck. It was actually fun when you knew you were finallllly going to get that rank, and it was a real achievement. Also, if you are having so much fun in WoW PVP then why do I see you afk in the cave, probably watching TV hitting the space bar every 3 or so minutes?
Complaint: "I dont have the time to get those ranks!"
Reply: Well then why do you need the items in the first place? If you don't have the time to get the ranks/items then why would you deserve them? Pre-Xpac was fun because you had to deserve your gear, and it felt more of an accomplishment to get something done. Now it seems people are spoiled and just expect items given to them. Which right now is mostly true with little input for PvP gear.
Complaint: "My $15 is as good as your $15!"
Reply: No it isn't. My $15 gives me many hours of entertainment on WoW, your $15 only gets you a few hours a month on WoW. Why should I be handicapped because someone has responsibility's outside the game, and further more, if you have responsibility's outside the game to take care of a family and a job/school then WoW should be your least concern. If you are using your time to afk in a cave instead of play with your kid then that isn't my fault that a honor grind would put a hold on getting your S1 daggers.
I was 5 bosses deep in Naxx, and wiping on C'thun while I was in college, but once I got a job to go alongside with college, I could care less about raiding or gearing up. As should you. I would be happy if I had enough free time to just hop on and talk to a few friends and maybe do a BG or two. Why people with real life responsibility's want the same treatment as people who can input more time into the game is beyond me.
Updated complaints/replies below;
Complaint: "I was high rank and it took way to long! You are insane if you want THAT grind back"
Reply: Ok lets compromise then, lets get a honor grind back, but it doesn't have to be as steep as the last one. The last one should of been a blue print for upcoming honor grinds. I realize the last one had problems, but there should still be something in place, restrictions on armors/weapons, etc.
Theres always room for improvement, but this current system is just insane from what WoW was for years. For years WoW was built on accomplishments rather it be personal or team oriented. That is what got WoW its first 6-7 million customers, while this new system of 25 man instances, and easy PvP gear has only netted WoW another 2-3 million customers. While 2-3 million customers is a lot, in the long scheme of things the WoW that had all the grinds, hard instances, and steep requirements was what made it the most popular MMORPG.

Q u o t e:
Discussions about a topic should not imply that it is a foregone conclusion. :)
The honor grind and titles era definitely has its place in the history of WoW, but I can say with a great deal of confidence that we are much happier with the variety of PvP options that are available to players today.
Battlegrounds
Arenas
World PvP (Halaa, EPL)
/sarcasm And my favorite - ganking at the meeting stone
Also, Wrath of the Lich King will introduce destructible terrain and siege weapons as well.

I couldn't disagree more. Arenas are a failure for the simple fact people want to do the minimum requirement of games a week for their points. When anyone wants to do the minimum of anything that means it usually isn't fun.
World PvP doesn't exist on any server. Low pop or high pop. Yeah ganking exist sometimes, but can you honestly remember your last 15vs15 world pvp moment? Especially in EPL ?
