Can't Open Mail

I have the same problem as the poster below; I can see that I have unread mail, but when I go to a mail box nothing is there. I tried renaming and deleting the WTF, Cache & Interface folders and still can't see my mail. One was sent yesterday and one was sent about 4 hours ago. Both contain money. The sender is my husband, so I know the source is good. Any other ideas why I can't open my mail?

I know that I have mail in my mailbox, but when when I open my mailbox, there is nothing in there. I can't change the pages in the mailbox, and I don't think it's lag. I know the mail was sent to me about 2 days ago, so I'm sure it's not really a waiting issue either...

reset your UI instructions follow (copied from the common game master solutions sticky)

The Reset UI process mainly involves either renaming or deleting what is sometimes affectionately referred to as The Holy Trinity, that is: the WTF, Cache and Interface folders, which may be found in the World of Warcraft directory - usually this is where WoW.exe is located; as an update to this procedure as of patch 2.0.1, we ask that players please refrain from deleting or renaming the WDB folder. The steps are as follows:

1) Log out of World of Warcraft to your desktop, thereby exiting the game completely.
2) Navigate to the World of Warcraft folder, which is often found in the Program Files directory (the default path is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft).
3) Either rename (or delete) the WTF, Cache and Interface folders. (Note: If you do not wish to permanently lose any third-party addons you may have accrued, or macros you've written for your characters, you would be well-advised to merely rename the folders, rather than delete them entirely.)
4) Log back into the game by double-clicking WoW.exe, ensuring that you do not reinstall any addons before doing so.

The following was written by one of our new teammates, who are currently undergoing training and do not yet possess forum accounts of their own; as a result, they shall be posting via proxy through me.

There is currently some incoming mail to this character, so you should be able to see it. With that said, I’d like to ask you a couple of questions. =)

First, are you currently using any user interface addons? If you are, they may very well be causing your issue, and resetting your User Interface once again should resolve the issue.

Second, when you reset your interface initially, did you see the cinematic, and have to agree to the TOU/EULA? Those are good signs that the process was completed correctly. ^_^

You may want to try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Reverting the game to a previous version may also assist with the troubleshooting process. In order to revert the game to a previous version, please try the following steps:

1. Open your World of Warcraft directory (This is commonly located at C:\Program files\World of Warcraft)
2. Open the folder called "Data"
3. Delete the Patch.MPQ file
4. Run the repair.exe utility found in the World of Warcraft directory
5. Click the button "Reset and Check Files"
6. The repair utility will say, "World of Warcraft is seriously damaged and will need to be reverted to an earlier version. After it has been reverted you may need to patch up to continue playing."
7. Once the repair utility has completed, you will need to reapply the patch to enter the game.

If that does not work for you, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. =)

Sorry it took so long to respond - wanted to wait until my husband had time to do this (he's much more adept than I am). This still didn't work... I'm in trial mode - does this have anything to do with it?

That would indeed be the cause of your issue, Feanalling, I apologize that we did not notice that you were on a trial account before this.

Below is the link to our Support Site which goes over the restrictions placed on trial accounts.

http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20590

Once you purchase a retail box of World of Warcraft and upgrade your account the restrictions will lift and you'll be able to recover the mail that was sent to you. If you do not recover the mail within 30 days it should return to whomever sent it.
