Restriction of non-wow related chat....

...needlessly inhibits the sense of community in your game. Instead, forums managers should strive to foster it by embracing people from the different walks who find common ground in your community.

The example I refer to was a harmless, community fostering "what do you do for a living" thread that I found interesting (being a closet wow geek myself) and found it was deleted as I was going through the pages. I say harmless because I'm having trouble determining the down side to a thread like that. Surely it can't be attributed to something as trivial as cost since it's the very community POPULATING such a thread that is paying, at a minimum, $15/mo for years on end....

If not cost, then what is the motivation of deleting community enhancing threads?

It's a nice ideal Thongthlayer but threads that deviate from the forum's intended purpose rarely result in well behaved discussions and mass suspensions are not an ideal solution. There has to be a baseline somewhere.

The Moderation Team do not moderate in-game chat. For that you need to submit a petition to bring it to the attention of a Game Master. We do not disclose what actions are taken except with the account owner.

If you see something on the forum that violates the Code of Conduct ( http://us.battle.net/en/community/conduct ) by all means select Thumbs Down > Report to bring it to our attention. Giving non-descriptive or very generic report descriptions may slow down evaluation of the reported post.
