.. somebody told me you need your CD key for the original warcraft discs to install the expansion, is this true? I've long since loaned my discs to a less than reliable friend and really I don't have to buy the game again do I? Anyone know?

on a similar note:

could you buy two copies of BC for two accounts, but run them from only 1 original WoW account?

Sure. What you are doing is upgrading the individual accounts and thus why you need two copies (two keys) to use the expansion.

I don't see any reason we would require you to use your original WoW key since it was used to activate your account in the first place.

Someone that doesn't have WoW already would need to get a copy and install before they put in the expansion.

I believe either Neth or I misunderstand the question. I read it as "Can one WoW account be used to create two BC accounts?" I find it unlikely that the answer is yes.

I think she read it as "Can two BC accounts be run on one computer?" or something along those lines. Just seeking clarification so people don't freak out that CM said they could get two accounts iwth only one original unless that's thecase.

You are correct. I read it as can they both play on the same computer.

You would need two seperate WoW accounts and two seperate BC keys to upgrade each but you wouldn't need to install it twice (logically) to play them both on the same computer.

(I'm sure that's clear as mud now. ;) )
