We see discussions all the time in which people say they don't like beggars or that most of them are most likely veterans re-rolling a new character. While this is sometimes true, there are still new players out there looking for a little help and a welcoming face or two. To that end, I thought I'd kick up a bit of discussion about this very topic. With the holidays coming, the potential for new community members joining in the Azeroth increases, but what will they find the welcoming committee?

  • What sorts of things do you do to help new players?
  • Have you ever considered spending time with a new player (or even a reroll) just to help them get a good start on things?
  • What is the best advice you could give to a new player just taking their first fledgling steps into Azeroth?

*As always, please keep on topic and keep it constructive.

On the Cenarion Circle server we have all sorts of things set in motion to help out new players, regardless if they are brand new to WoW in general or to CC specifically.

<Homeland>, a guild Horde side, hosts weekly "Welcome Walks" where they introduce new players to other members of our community and give them "starter kits", usually including some crafted low-level armor, a bunch of materials to help kick start the new players choice of professions, and bags. (Bag space is a premium, no matter what level you are XD ))

On both sides of the factional divide we have individual players who go out of their way to provide a smiling face and a helpful word to our newer players.

Also, this holiday season, the <AAMS> and <AAMS Alliance Branch> (basically one guild on both Horde and Alliance side) will be hosting a handful of events (such as a gift wrapping service and a secret Santa program) aimed at bringing our server community together, new and old players alike.

That sounds great! It's always good to see things like this and so far there's been some good advice in this thread.
