I recognize that this is "short" notice and also recognize that many are concerned over the lack of MMR reset. We'll do what we can to provide you with more information on why we have decided to not reset as soon as possible (it requires some internal conversations so will take a little time).
Nethaera, this comment actually greatly concerns me, in and of itself. A decision not to reset MMR has been made. Presumably, some internal conversation had already been made prior to the decision. I mean, that would be a reasonable assumption on our part, don't you think?
So I have to understand your comment as meaning that you (at the moderator level) weren't told why the decision had been made. We can deduce quite a bit from that, but the base fact is that either a decision was made not to tell you, or it wasn't considered important enough to register as a to-do item by those who decided to leave the MMR alone. Either way, it reveals that the decision-makers consider that having the players know why an MMR reset isn't being done is undesirable or irrelevant. As you can imagine, that doesn't sit well with us.
First off, you're incorrect. I'm not at "moderator" level. I and the rest of my team are at "community manager level" not to disparage the hard work moderators do (and they do work extremely hard). What I meant was simply, that I am unaware of what the genesis of the decision was, and that I and the rest of the team would look into it more on your behalf. I am not promising any change in decision, but am promising that the constructive feedback and concerns would be carried to the developers and that we'd discuss it further and see if we could bring back additional information. Whether this information we bring back is going to make you any happier or not is completely out of my hands or anyone else on the community team. How you deal with the answers is completely up to you, but threats of leaving the game etc, while they seem convincing, is not productive to the conversation.
We normally do not as a matter of course reset the MMR.. This is a part of the design of the system of which is also used within StarCraft II (not to directly compare games) and the system works well. That said though, I am also aware of the concern over the previous MMR issues (which were fixed) and lack of MMR reset along with it. Again, I (or anyone else on the team) can't promise a change in this decision, but we can and will carry your constructive feedback and concerns back to the development team. The answer may be "no" at the end of the day, but we'll do what we can to explain the "why" to you as well as we can should it continue to be a, "no reset" answer.
I'm going to be completely open with you all and let you know, that my statement of suspending people for bad behavior in this thread was not a threat. It's something that I will carry out (and am) though in order for there to be a dialogue of value that I can use (and the team can use) to have a conversation with the development team. "Bumping" the thread (without providing additional value), harassing others (including PvE vs. PvP in-fighting) is not going to help me or anyone else in conveying your message. You can choose to "rebel" by swearing or telling "Blizzard" where to go, but again, that's not going to help you or your stance on this issue. I'm trying to help you here and in order to do that, there has to be a clean discussion that isn't rife with overly emotional agendas.
Again, passion for a topic like PvP is not only welcome but appreciated. Whether you want to believe in our commitment to it or not is up to you.
