Crit Rating vs. Crit % in TBC?

Can someone please explain to me what is this new "Crit Rating" I am hearing about? I hear it is replacing "Chance to crit %" in TBC.

If it's true, what is the concept (math) behind it? How will it affect the current items and the player system?

We are going to have more information for you soon (Very soon even) with some crunchy good details for the number crunchers and for those that don't like to number crunch, it should still make sense and be easily understood.

No, no pie charts. Things always go badly when we do those... like pieces mysteriously disappear. ;)

People are already posting some of the information about it but we have an organized post that is being planned to go up (possibly today but things happen so I'm not committing to it.)

This has been done mostly from the gear scaling perspective. As things are now, it wouldn't make sense for everyone to be at 100% crit at a certain point. This also allows us to create new and interesting items to add into the world for people to find.

We'll have more for you soon though in a more organized format.
