Inquiries are currently being made into the mechanic by which patterns and recipes are sent to celebrate Winter Veil, folks, to determine whether there is an issue that requires further investigation; in the meantime, your patience is appreciated while we look into the matter. :)

Q u o t e:
Our goal was to resolve this issue as quickly as possible, and we'd hoped to do so on the individual level—thus my original statement to submit an in-game petition. Unfortunately, further development of our work flow led back to the original issue at hand: "What are the requirements for the reception of such patterns and recipes?"

We're currently investigating this matter—quite avidly, to be brutally honest—and hope to reach a solid answer shortly; until then, we will be unable to directly assist any players who have not yet received Winter Veil patterns or recipes, as we must establish baseline requisites before providing such items to the public.

Once more, you have my most sincere apologies for leading you astray; nonetheless, our intent has not changed—we still wish to ensure that all those deserving of these patterns and recipes acquire them—though are method of "attack" has altered slightly for the time being.

Thank you so much for your patience. It's really quite appreciated. :)

What about leatherworking?

Thousand pardons, Murron; I merely forgot to include Leatherworking into the mix.

Q u o t e:
Syndri -- could you do us a huge favor and tell us what the eligibility requirements for receiving a pattern in the mail are?

We're still sorting this out at the moment, Azaz, as it relates to the original issue of the recipes and patterns not being holistically distributed. Once I receive accurate confirmation, I'll be sure to notify those inquiring within this thread.

As our involvement will be directly contingent upon these base requirements, provision is not yet guaranteed. We're actively investigating the matter at this time and hope to reach a definitive conclusion shortly. My most sincere apologies for any confusion or misdirection which may have been caused on my behalf. :)

So, are we supposed to sign this thread or petition a GM in game? Or just wait it out?

Haha. This was the nature of my apology.

I have several characters that are lacking in recipes. Would it be acceptable for those who have many characters missing these recipes to send an email instead? I don't have the time to wait around on every single one of my characters with a GM petition...

It would be best to wait at this time, Calestra. Once we have established both the nature of this issue and best means for resolution, I will inform you appropriately; at such a time, I will let you know the most apt avenue of contact (should it be necessary). :)

Basically we were going to just mail them out at random but then we thought. Hey ppl will be pissed at that so now we have to come up w/ some criterion on the fly as to why we won't distribute FLUFF patterns fairly.

Ah. Clearly you're a keen interpreter, Cicommeca.

We're currently reviewing this matter with both our Database Administrators and Development teams; present discussion is focused on what the most apt course of action would be at this time and which would serve the customer base most appropriately and efficiently.

Our Support division originally wanted to proceed with distribution on the individual level; however, upon further structuring of procedure, it was deemed best to address and identify the effecting issue than simply attempt to apply a band-aid to a wound we had not yet fully categorized.

That said, I'll let you know once I do. :)

We wish to resolve this matter entirely, Cico, not merely apply a veritable band-aid. That said, I'm fairly certain it's been stated that the seemingly random distribution of these recipes was not intended. :)

And, yes, Ronzily; that is our goal. Your patience is remarkably appreciated in the meantime. :)

This is not something which has been forgotten; not at all! We're attempting to verify why all players eligible did not originally receive the intended patterns and recipes; with this, we're also working to establish what appropriate eligibility should be at this time.

Your patience and contribution is wholly appreciated, folks! Thank you so much for your understanding. :)

While I understand you're offering suggestions on how to rectify the matter in the interest of seeing it resolved, please respect the fact that we'd like to see this well and truly fixed. We completely understand that you'd like your patterns as soon as possible, but we're pushing to fix it properly. The suggestions given are, alas, not fixes to the situation at large, and indeed may only cause further problems.

Trust me, we're on the case. :)

Perhaps you can answer a question then. Previous posts have indicated that you (you being the dev team as a whole, not necessarily you individually) are attempting to establish the criteria for the recipes. Given that the recipes were already mailed out once, shouldn't the criteria already be established?

Ah, no, the criteria is known to us, in fact. I believe that was our intrepid GM team seeking the information, which has since been rectified. :)

We've isolated the cause for failed distribution, though are still attempting to determine why such an anomaly would present itself under intended parameters.

This said, given the nature of this particular situation, we are searching for the most efficient method to ensure each clothing item's availability, one that will not impact server stability or further inconvenience our player base. We hope to apply a hotfix shortly; once such goes live, I will provide additional detail. :)

Ober was not, in fact, trolling.

We certainly do care about our players and plan on making the recipes available before the holiday is at an end. Penney Copperpinch (Orgrimmar) and Wulmort Jinglepocket (Ironforge) will most likely be our vehicles to do so. However, this is one of those fixes that cannot be hotfixed as easily as others. Not every issue can be rectified on a realm while it's up and running, unfortunately.

The next time we do rolling restarts (scheduled for Tuesday at this time), you should hopefully be able to retrieve the recipes you desire from those NPCs.

Let me see if I can clear this up.

There are a variety of hotfixes. Some hotfixes can go live instantly. Some hotfixes, even though they're applied on the realm, won't be seen by players until the realm in question restarts. Unfortunately, this particular issue falls into the latter category.

Eredar, I believe, has been restarted; however, we're not going to interrupt players' play time during this very busy period of time outside of maintenance unless necessary. That's why I quoted Tuesday. :)

There's no minimum skill level to purchase the recipes off the vendor, so don't worry there.

As for doing the restarts before, while I completely understand your desire to have your pattern today, we are indeed making decisions in the interest of being fair to everyone who plays the game. As I've said, this is a very busy time in terms of players playing, and we've determined an unscheduled interruption in that playtime would be more of an inconvenience than waiting a few days for these patterns.

And yes, I was referring to the Winter Veil holiday when I spoke of it being fixed before the holiday is over.

It will be fixed as soon as it's feasible to do so. I hope you folks have a pleasant and enjoyable holiday. :)

Q u o t e:

Why is it a busy time?

Largely because people want to do the holiday events and items, and here is one of the chief such aspects of the game not functioning in time for those holidays.

With all respect due, that isn't wholly correct, and I'm afraid Tuesday is the earliest time rolling restarts will be done.
