Canceling WoW subscription

If i cancel my subscription, does it mean I'll never be able to play this account ever again? Or does it mean i cancel it until i want to play again and add a game card or credit card?

The previous posters are correct, Jacedrin; with the exception of in-game mail and auctions, your characters shall remain unscathed. :)
