Disturbing <GM> chat (wintrading etc)

There are a number of people on my server and even in the bg's that I play that are constantly spamming crap like " selling arena team" or "selling personal arena rating"

IDK if this is allowed or not so I decided to contact a gm. I figured I'd get an answer or at least he would be able to point me in the right direction.

after a small chat it became immediately clear that he was not going to be able to discuss with me the actions that would be taken against the offending players (if in fact it was breaking any rules at all) and he was not going to be able to discuss with me specific policies. BUT. he was able to direct me towards the Policy page on the wow website. I was told to pay particular attention to the Advertising policy.

one more question I said. If I can't understand or want further clarification of a policy who would I contact. He wasn't sure. but maybe an account admin could help.

so off on my marry way I went to look into the "advertising policy" on the wow webpage.

LOL.. good luck finding that. there is not link. and the only way to find it is by searching the Blizzard webpages policy pages. finally I got this pearl of wisdom out of the harrassment policy page. (very hard to find)

"Advertising
This category includes advertisement of:

Any non-beneficial, non-WoW related businesses, organizations, or websites

If a player is found to have been advertising, he/she may:

Be given a warning"

so.. it says non-wow related business.

well I guess that means that if one were so inclined they could sell their arena teams and arena points and personal arena rating guarantees whatever you want for wow gold.

AMIRITE???

GOD KNOWS.. you think this thing could be more broadly worded. I'm not dumb. I'm in the industry and I know why they word these policies so broadly. so they can say "oh but its written right there" whenever the hell they want for whatever the hell reason they want.

needless to say. I didnt' get an answer and the direction I was pointed in (however misleading that might have been at first) basically produced nothing but more question.

thoughts??

/discuss

edit : for speelink

edit: thank you admin mod guy for moving this to the right forum. I know it won't get nearly as much attention here but whatever. thats understandable /rolls eyes

Although to clarify, there may be repercussions against a person who is verified in using a version of "win trading" to catapult their rating.

I highly recommend against using such techniques.

Win Trading is when one team basically agrees to lose against another team in order to artificially inflate the other teams rating.

I'd say that differs greatly from a low rating person being invited into a high rated team and participating with them in order to elevate their own rating.

Don't necro threads from 2007 especially when they have nothing to do with what you are posting about.

Indeed.

Assuming you mean your Burning Crusade account, Tony, you'll want to write to our Account Administration department. Unless you were sending whispers to people and letting them know they won a drawing to receive a gift I'd say your account was compromised.
