Why do S1 caster weapons cost more then the melee ones do?

just wondering.

It's not really a discount as the prices have been setup to be a fitting price for the slot as well as the purpose they will fulfill.

In that case melee weapons should cost more than caster as we don't actually use the weapons we just equip them for stats. And melee actually fights with them. Just like the new arena hunter weapon only costs 1k arena points and has no rating requirement.

The purpose that an item fulfills can definitely make an impact on the price.

In some cases one class or another may pay more honor to get what they want, but generally speaking everybody has to pay a solid amount of honor points if they want to get they hands filled up.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Sure.

but didn't he just say 'shouldn't melee weapons cost more?" and then you just now said "melee weapons tend to cost a bit more" but in actuality, they cost less.

Sorry for any confusion as I was just comparing the weapons and the One-hand and Off-hand weapons total 27000 honor while a one handed caster-oriented weapon where you get most of the stats is 25200. If a player wants two one-handers, it can total 36000 honor. A dual wielder may have a hard time doing anything with just one hand while a caster can probably do okay.
