Hallows end isn't good enough for you?

Q u o t e:
Hallow's End - October 18 - November 1
When the decorations of Hallow's End light up Azeroth's cities, you know there's mischief afoot! Seek special vendors in Orgrimmar or Ironforge and get your hands on treats! Aid a sick orphan in a little trick-or-treating! Deathcaller Yanka, attending the Forsaken's Wickerman Festival, and Sergeant Hartman of Southshore are seeking your aid in keeping the enemy out of their holiday affairs -- are you up to the challenge?

That should be coming soon plus our Halloween contests (see front page) also have the upcoming pumpkin carving contest and costume contest as well. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml

Q u o t e:
A scary season is coming up, and we wanted to give you a little heads-up that we are planning two contests for this year's Halloween. More details about the rules and prizes for both of these contests will be announced soon.

4th Annual Pumpkin-Carving Contest
In a longstanding Blizzard tradition, this year will see our fourth annual pumpkin-carving contest take place. The most creative, original, and well-designed pumpkins will be awarded with glittering prizes. If you want to check out some past pumpkin-carving contest winners, you can see them here: [2003], [ 2004], [ 2005].

Costume Contest
If pumpkin-carving isn't your preferred art form, perhaps our costume contest might suit you better. We have had very fun and successful costume contests in 2004 and again at BlizzCon in 2005, and we're excited to offer this contest again this year. We'll be giving prizes to the best Blizzard-themed costumes from the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo game universes. Time to get out those scissors!

I'd hope that these activities will be fun for everyone. :)

I just thought I'd hop in and say that what I posted isn't all that is planned of course. ;) I would suggest people keep an eye on the front page for things since it's the time of year where holiday activity both out of game and in game begins to pick up.

I have to ask:

What is everyone's image of Halloween in America? I see noone trick-or-treating, hardly anyone in costume, I can't even find a Jack O' Lantern withing a square mile of where I live. Halloween is hardly the institution in America I see everyone claiming it is.

FYI, I live in the Greater Seattle, Washington area.

Different parts of the country and even different neighborhoods do different things. Where I live no one trick-or-treats because no one really knows their neighbors. 'Back east 'however the neighborhoods are often older and the people have been there long enough (generally for generations) to know who they can trust.

I will say that instead of trick-or-treating in my area there are more organized events such as harvest festivals or fairs or private parties.
