Not your typical Goodbye

Last night I was leveling an alt druid with a few guildies. One particular instance we queue and get a rogue named <removed> who first off is a horrible name and I reported it right away. Said rogue comes in, starts pulling trash and vanishing, watching the group fight to live. He was asked nicely to stop several times and we couldn't kick him because "You must wait 15 minutes before kicking this player."

After a few minutes I finally had it and said "Will you please stop acting like a dumb <re3moved> so we can finish this run?" He stopped and did nothing, just stood where he was until we were able to kick him.

Fastforward to today. I receive an email stating my account has been banned for 24 hours for my above comment. My first EVER offense (been playing since the start of BC). Now, I'm the guy that reports all the anal and racist spam in trade only to see those same players doing it again everytime I log in and this is the thanks I get. Banned, for calling a rogue with an offensive name a dumb <removed>.

After Blizzard refusing my appeal, I've decided I'm going to move on from this game. It's ridiculous I can see the same guy in trade spamming racial slurs day in and day out, report him everyday and nothing happens, yet I get a 24 hour ban for my first EVER offense. Yes, 24 hours is nothing, yes I'm going to do other stuff, but the principle (I think that's spelled right) is there, that I got banned for something extremely mild compared to what I report daily.

Yes, I know calling out names can get me a forum ban, but I'm quitting, so I don't really care. It's obsurd(sp?) that a report from a player with that name was even taken seriously to begin with and I was banned for such a minor infraction.

I still love this game, but cannot justify myself to keep playing after this incident. Good bye WoW.

Just a few points here.

1. If you see an inappropriate name, report them.

2. If you see inappropriate chat in trade, report it - nothing can be done if it's not reported.

3. A suspension is NOT a ban, two very different things. Suspensions end naturally, bans do not.

This seems to be the sticking point - no, no it's not. This isn't the first time this account has been actioned. If it indeed HAD been, for this minor offense, a warning would have likely been the outcome. That is all governed by the penalty volcano unless an offense is so aggregious as to skip ahead steps.

While I can appreciate your frustration, someone else breaking rules does not give you permission or license to follow suit.
