Guild Bank Hacking

Our Guild Master's account was hacked and though you presume guilt before innocence, it is true she was hacked. Every officer in our Guild reported the crime at the moment it was happening yet it took over an hour for a response from a GM. Though Blizzard is denying her any help in her recovery that is besides the point. Our guild bank being stolen affected not one person but the entire guild made up of over 50 people. What do you intend to do about guild banks being hacked? This is not a matter of one person being lazy about their account security.

My main question is if denying our guild master her account back in turn denies the guild their guild bank what is your justification for this?

Am I to presume that the guild in question is the one to which you currently belong: <Entourage>?

I retract my question. I was able to find the appropriate information. :)

Your Guild Master's account—or, to be more apt, former Guild Master (the characters affected no longer possess the title of guild leader)—has been referred to our Investigation Team, Haphazard. I'm not entirely sure why you believe we are hesitant to assist?

Edit: Go ahead and have your Guild Master complete the following form—

I was pulling from this particular statement:

Q u o t e:
Though Blizzard is denying her any help in her recovery that is besides the point.

This account is still pending investigation; thus, there has been no form of denial issued. On the contrary, it does appear as though her guildmates did, indeed, petition on her behalf—and, in turn, were informed that reports regarding the event of a compromise must needs be issued by the account holder; this may be where some confusion lay.

Q u o t e:
Do guild banks get restored if affected by a single player (with withdrawl privs) getting hacked?

We will attempt to restore as much as possible; however, there must exist proper record of any correlated transactions in order for such restoration to occur.

There are only a few key situations in which restoration would be completely infeasible or contrary to active policy, Haphazard; in many cases, restoration may be limited, though not altogether impossible.

That said, we regard the Guild Bank as virtual property of the Guild Master. To understand this stipulation, you must understand that we also regard the guild, itself, in the very same manner; as the title denotes in-game ownership—whether acquired by the charter or by subsequent promotion—all related amenities are deferred by default to said "owner." So, if we outright deny restoration (again, highly unlikely) of the affected account, the Guild Bank will remain as-is.

I hope this clarifies matters?

Q u o t e:
Even after contacting GMs DURING the incident and telling them to put a block on the account until confirmation on authority. they still did nothing about it.

Take a moment and consider the following:

Player A gets very, very, very upset with Player B. Player A then decides to pull a prank on Player B and notifies the Game Master department of a "possible compromise." The Game Master department—on the word of Player A (and maybe Player E, C, and D)—locks the account. Player B returns to find that he or she cannot access the account and must go through an unnecessary process.

We require that the account holder notify our departments; this is to prevent abuse of the system. Should the situation become dire, the account holder may wish to email [email protected]; this works identically to submitting in-game petition.

I can understand your concern; I, too, have seen the affects of an account compromise and I know they can be quite devastating, even if the account is not your own. This said, patience is key; we really will do all that we can to rectify matters. :)

Take a moment to get off your revisionist high horse.

So much pessimism—why? Did you not read any of my posts within this thread? =/

I'm glad to hear your character's reversal went smoothly, Caitline. It's always good to hear of such successes. :)

That said, do try not to become overly stressed. I know this may incredibly difficult; but, it's for the better. As I mentioned previously, we will do everything within our power to restore your characters and your Guild Vault to its former glory. This may take time, yes; nonetheless, time ensures accuracy and quality—two defining principles I am sure you wish upheld for your particular investigation.

The best thing for you and your guild mates to do is remain positive. Just breathe, and keep your chin up!

I would attempt to leave your character as-is, Caitline; as our goal is to maintain an equitable, balanced economy, those responsible for your account's restoration may wish to allocate those funds elsewhere (in effort to ensure as little overall impact as possible). It's best to wait and see.

I realize it's tempting, so hopefully you will hear from our staff shortly. In meantime, maybe you can level another alt—free of any other ties? :)
