Blizzard Game Master decisions.

I've got a gripe with a Blizz GM, and was told to come here.

Its not a personal gripe, just a policy thing, which I know has been brought up here a million times before. But this GM told me to post it again, so here it is.

WE WANT TO KNOW THE OUTCOMES OF OUR COMPLAINTS.
We don't need to be assured that you will look into it. (and take action if necessary).
We don't need to know exactly what action is taken. As long as you tell us that you took action.
We don't need to have items restored (although that would be nice).

I tried to get a clear yes/no answer to this question:
Q: If the GMs don't investigate this matter, will we ever know?

No straight answer. All I get is an assurance that they will look into all complaints. I will never know if they actually did look into it and found that I was wrong to have put in a complaint, or if I was right, but decided that its not worth taking any action, or if they took action at all.

If the police force worked this way, I'd love to work there: You guys can fill in all the reports you want, and I'll just sit there and file it all away.

And yes, I did get an item ninja'd from me, even though loot rules was confirmed in chat.

The whole purpose of the thread was to hope for a change in policy. This thread was posted in the General Forum, and then someone moved it here to Customer Support.

Which technically would be the appropriate venue for it, Cavity. I'm afraid I am limited on the commentary I'd be able to provide but I can assure you that your point of view is known. It is actually not unique as there has always been a desire to be given information regarding the reports players submit.

I'm afraid regardless of your feedback, which is certainly appreciated, our current and continuing stance is that we are unable to provide any information regarding another account in these cases.

If that changes, you will likely find that out if you report another player. I hope that the fact that you aren't receiving confirmation of what happened will not prevent you from reporting possible violations of our Terms of Use though.

If you atleast let us know you did "Something." So many people won't think. "They don't do anything."

We do something, we look into the report and determine if a violation of our policies has taken place. If a violation of our policies is verified we take actions based off of those policies.

There are two basic outcomes if we did let you know that we "took action".

1. If you didn't believe us when was said we'd investigate and take appropriate actions based on our policies why would you believe us if we stated that we have taken appropriate action?

2. If you know that an action is taken but you don't know what that is then the next step is that you'll protest that we're too lenient when it comes to the penalty applied.

It is a slippery slope that we don't wish to be on.

Providing statistics with no information is useless. X number of players were suspended for Y.... X number out of how many? Based on how many reports? In what kind of time frame? What were the circumstances involved? Was it their first offense? What other factors are involved, because we don't action based solely on one thing. We look at the severity of the offense and the history on the account.

We are always looking at how our reporting structure works and how the policies are enforced and what kind of weight each action has. We are always looking into better ways that we can address policy violations and the overall social atmosphere of the game. We have made adjustments to address some issues more efficiently (i.e. Report Player/Spam feature to address advertisement spam) and will continue to implement new methods. Some you may see, others you may not.

The bottom line is, as I have stated before, our continuing stance is that we will not be sharing any information regarding the actions that we may or may not take based on the reports submitted. My hope is that it does not dissuade you from reporting possible violations when you see them but that is entirely up to you.

If you have submit a petition and you do not believe that was addressed appropriately the best point on contact would be to write to [email protected]. This will not result in the release of additional information regarding the report but the actions taken will be reviewed to ensure all policies were followed.

I believe 13 pages is enough for this discussion.
