Healing more catered to women?

I'm not trying to make generalizations, but from my experiences with the game, it's mainly the women who play WoW that want to heal, and mainly the guys that want to do dps. There are exceptions, but that's the general attitude I get while raiding, or otherwise just reading forums.

Look at the hybrid classes, take a druid for example: Some of the best resto druids I know are female gamers, most of the male gamers (myself included) who play a druid want to do it for the hybrid style of play, not to heal, or spec deep into resto.

Most priests in raids I find are women, not only on my server, but on other servers. You rarely find a guy playing behind a priest unless it's shadow and heavy into PvP.

I dunno... There are exceptions, but that's generally what I get while playing.

It's funny that this topic has been brought up for many years in the MMO scene. I've seen discussions where guys asking how to get their female friends, girlfriends or wives interested in playing have been told to have them play a healer class because it's what women seem good at.

Generally people feel that women choose healing classes because by nature women are nurturing and like to take care of others. That may be a valid argument for it. Perhaps more women do take healing roles but I don't think we'll ever see an accurate poll that shows it. I've seen a good balance of men and women playing healer types of classes over the years though.

When I first started playing MMOs I never wanted to touch a healing class and all the healers I knew were male. I am more of a melee, in your face sort. I didn't even like casters back then. It wasn't until WoW that I started playing healers and casters and found that I enjoyed it as much as I did melee characters.

It all comes down to a basic playstyle for people and what fits their nature. Some people want to be forces of destruction whether male or female and some want to be caretakers and be a pivotal part in the survival of their group. I think that's one of the parts of playing a healer class that I found I DID enjoy was getting off that last moment heal to pull someone from the brink of death and defeat whatever or whoever we were fighting. I found that I began to take people's deaths very personally. As a melee, I don't take it personally at all unless they are suppossed to be healing me and let ME die. :)

I couldn't get my GF to roll a healing class no matter how hard I try, even tried to get her to roll a shadow priest she didn't bite. she's more blood thirsty than any male I have come across if it breathes she will kill it. Me on the other hand have a priest/druid/paladin and soon a shaman, It works out well she kills stuff I keep her alive. Her mains a hunter followed by a mage and a fury warrior :P

Sounds like my kind of girl. I actually first agreed to ever play a healer in WoW only because I learned I could kill well with it. If I couldn't kill, I wouldn't be happy. :)

But the fact that more women are playing video games gives me hope that one day, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day I will find a girl that I actually have something in common with! hehe. I need me a gamer girl! Apply within.

So you never want hot meals, clean laundry or a clean house then? ;) hehe... With both of you as gamers, someone's going to have to break down and do it and it would be unfair if it was always HER having to do it. When would she get in her PvP time?
