BUG: Earth Shield refresh

Before everyone feels the need to 'educate' me, I know the change to Earth Shield to prevent me from over-writing a better one on an existing target. Please do not derail this thread with those unnecessary posts.

What I cannot do, as of yesterday, is over-write my OWN Earth Shield on another target, before it's up. This is annoying, because it disables my ability to effectively manage the inherent GCD and high mana cost of ES. For example, on the ZA Bear Bleed tank last night, I was unable to refresh ES right after the switch. So, even though that tank has only 1-2 charges left, and I'm about to enter a bit of a mana-recharge phase, I cannot get a new one up without using a trinket or some other gimmick to temporarily power-up my healing, thus also eliminating that Use: ability for when my Bleed target gets aggro back and I really need that extra juice.

Additionally, if I go down, the other Shaman in the raid is unable to over-write my ES target because I have more healing than he does. So, this problem is cross-toon within the raid as well.

PROPOSED SOLUTION: I would like to ask if Blizzard could adjust the tolerance level of the ES over-write mechanism to give a 5% cushion. Effectively, allow me to put a new one on if my current ES is at least 95% of the strength of the old one.

Thanks!

There is a bug with a specific script that is preventing players from overwriting both the shaman earth shield and the priest's prayer of mending. We are working to correct this issue.

Eyonix thank you for your swift reply. I want to point out this response from Biljre, one of your sister/brother blues

That was taken from the PoM/ES thread on the Bug forum linked here

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=2969688103&sid=1

If the fix for PoM is already slated for a future patch can you make sure the corresponding ES fix likewise goes live with that? I had the unfortunate experience of being a healing priest in early TBC and watching rogue animantion fixes take precedent over fixing the stacking gem issue (where if I had 4 royal nightseye on my entire gear set, I would get the mp5s bonus of 1 gem, instead of all 4) so you will have to forgive me if I'm a bit cycnical about this process now. If anything, with more charges and a far greater duration of ES, I would think fixing ES should have more priority. (This is not to say it should go unrepaired for priests--I find it equally irritating on my resto shammy and my healing priest!)

The fact that you can't overwrite a more powerful spell is not the issue. Both priests and shaman want to be able to overwrite their spells when it is convenient to do so--not after it has run out or has been clicked off. ES has charges and a time limit, PoM has a time limit. The principle complaints about this new mechanic are the same for both classes.

The current plan is to have both Earth Shield and Prayer of Mending fixed in the same upcoming patch.

Thanks.

If you get any inkling on when this might be, please let us know. (i.e. if it's too complicated to do as a hotfix and we'll have to wait for 2.4, versus in some "between" patch in the next few weeks.)

Thanks again!

This bug should be fixed well before patch 2.4 releases. Unfortunately, we're not able to correct this issue through the hotfix method.
