Password being changed repeatedly.

Hey there,

I'm a tad nervous, as I have been trying to log in at different times all night, and every so often my password would stop working. I have changed it several times myself, but the log in problems return every so often. I fear an outside source is changing the info. I currently have control, and nothing is lost (it would seem) yet, but I fear for the worst.

I am scanning and updating as I type this, I have no issues detected as of yet. Should I download process scanner as well? I never have really felt safe about free programs online.

Could I have help determining what's going on? :O

Thanks.

Out of the three times I reset my password, I received 4 notifications. One of these wasn't by me, I believe. Not sure how these changes aren't showing up in my inbox. Virus Scanner still hasn't picked up a bug yet, I'll soon see.

Thanks, and you too. :D

You have malicious parties trying to break in, Spindles.

It's possible they actually have access to your email and are deleting correspondence - or it's hitting your spam filter.

I'd keep scanning, and I'd also recommend checking your email account and even changing it to a new and totally unrelated one.

They may not be in your email, because of yet they haven't changed it - but they certainly have more information than they should have, you may have responded to a phish.

I'd also recommend adding an authenticator as another line of defense.

It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.

So, now that I have a totally new, un-related email for my Bnet account, and a completely new password, and I have scanned my computer for viruses, should I be safe for now?

Time will tell. If your password continues to be reset, something else is afoot. If they haven't actually managed to gain entry to your account, you were likely phished and they got enough information to change your password - but not email access, so they couldn't retrieve it.

If you aren't getting those emails, that's a bit worrisome. A new email is usually the easiest way to take the information they need out of their hands.

To update on the situation, much to my dismay, my account finally was logged into in game, and gold spam messages were apparently spammed. It has been closed for 72 hours. What can I do now? :(

Well, your next best recourse is to call Billing and inquire on what other methods you could secure your account.

In this case - being closed is a good thing.

The source just needs found, sometimes that is far harder than what we have to do on our end :)

I don't envy anyone that task..

That one is most likely a phish Tann.

Pop open the internal routing header and look at the true sender.
