Friend Referral Problem

I went through the recruit-a-friend process and my friend not only acquired the 10-day trial, but also purchased World of Warcraft which gave him a free month, however when I look at the recruit-a-friend option on my profile to see if I recieved any rewards it says my friend has taken no action towards starting an account. I'm not sure if my friend or I did something wrong in the process of recruit-a-friend but I would appreciate your time if you could help me resolve the issue.
