Problem with chat window

This Tuesday I got online and the first thing I noticed is that my graphics settings were all changed. Well I got that adjusted but there was one other problem and I have no idea how to fix it.

I can talk in open chat in the chat window. I can also read when someone yells someting. But I can't bring anything up in the chat window when I type to my guild or pst someone. Now my guild can see what I have typed but I can't see it nor can I pick up any other guild chat.

Can someone plz help me out here.

As Pahanda mentioned, there is a known issue with GS causing chat to break, Blkwidow.

If you use GearScore, update it. The old version of it clobbered chat in 4.0.3.
