I'm wanting to have the collector's edition for Cata, do I have to go through a price hiking retailer or can I get it directly from Blizzard and maybe save a few bucks?

No, I'm afraid not, Seniorsmiley. Traditionally we do not directly sell the Collector's Edition version. Those are distributed to retailers for purchase. Hopefully you'll be able to find one that is reasonably priced still.
