This sounds like a pretty severe case, Gwarg, and I'd recommend both reporting it via in-game petition as well as to our Hacks team (
[email protected]), as they would be very interested in these findings.
As our staff is a reactive service, there are certain things where we may be unaware of a situation until it is reported to us. This would seem to be one of those situations, especially as it seems specific to the Arthas realm. Understand that we do not have explicit purview over other websites, and with over 200+ realms, a violation specific to only one realm may be not have yet made it our way.
Let me clarify - the exchange for real world currency for in-game gold or other items and benefits is strictly prohibited. Thank you for reporting this to us and taking such a pro-active stance!
Q u o t e:
It's bad enough that Blizzards inept policies regarding ingame profanity and naming policy are now ignored and getting an actual ban is about as easy as getting a presidential nomination
I'm legitimately confused by this statement, as we take appropriate action for all situations presented to us. There seems to be a misconception that "nothing is done" primarily based on players assuming a player is not permanently removed from the game. We do try to educate players so that everyone can continue to enjoy the game within its rules, and to that end we have a "Penalty Volcano" that players climb with multiple offenses. You can see it here:
Account Penalties http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20221 It's pretty easy to miss a player who was hit with a 3 hour or 24 hour suspension - how would one know if they simply logged off for the night, or took a break for a day or two? Players who would abuse the rules often also like to imply that no action was taken, as it disinclines other players from reporting them again - they know they will receive harsher punishment the next time around.
