Can the digital cataclysm preorder be "gifted"? Like can we get a code to give to someone else to use it, like we can do for pets, or celestial mount?

This depends on the local retail store you are purchasing it from. Unfortunately we have no control over these orders.

As an alternative you have the choice. Keep in mind that in doing so, you are paying for the game twice. Keep in mind that the Collector's edition key will override your online upgrade key. Once the key is used, it is non transferable.
