Disable and Re-Enable RealID, friend loss?

I want to disable my RealID for a little while, but if I do this, will I lose all my RealID friends if I choose to reactivate it?

Indeed. I was testing something the other day and needed to disable it Real ID to do so. My friends thought I removed them on purpose so I got to hear it every time someone came online and I had to add them back. >.<
