When is it ok to be racist/sexist in Trade?

I mean there has to be a time when it's acceptable right? Otherwise we wouldn't need to open a ticket on people and have it investigated. Why is it that when someone does start going of all racist in Trade chat, or bashing homosexuals, in Trade chat, they can't be immediately banned?

Hedonistic, regardless of what you may perceive as the best way to speak or address a situation, be it in trade or on the forums, we do have codes of conduct for both and we expect all players to abide by them. You may want to take any spare time you have available to review these policies.

I think the amount of time and manpower blizz would have to use for what you want to happen isnt possible.

I mean come on, its not like they have hundreds if not thousands of employees at blizzard.

To monitor trade is, indeed, something that is beyond our means. It is one of the reasons we do, partially, rely on our players to bring concerns such as these to our attention via in-game petition or e-mail at [email protected].

We absolutely care about these reports, and address each individually. It can be difficult for players to tell what has been done, as for privacy reasons, we cannot disclose the actions we take on another player's account. Players that would abuse this system would have you believe that nothing is done, though they may have received a warning, or a short term suspension. They know how our Penalty Volcano works, and they know they will end up with a banned account if they continue to be reported.

Those who truly want to be a part of the community will learn from their mistakes so they can continue playing. Those who don't, well, we appreciate if you continue to report repeat offenders so we can address the situation accordingly.

For those unfamiliar with our Penalty Volcano and how additional infractions stack up, you can review our policy here.

I remember reading some very upset posts a month or two ago about a GM banning people publicly in trade chat, Arthas realm I believe. But I guess that wouldn't count for monitoring would it?

Ah, suppose it would have been better to say, "to monitor all realms and channels 24/7."

We do, at times, send Game Masters to realms where we have received a high amount of reports of ill behavior. However, this still boils down to needing our players to submit reports, and we are unable to do this for every realm on a frequent basis as it is a fairly time consuming process.
