I just canceled my subscription

Looks like the customer service and reliability of this game are still both utter crap. I have been back playing for a week and I've had nothing but disconnects, freezing, and other problems with functionality. But the worst part is that Blizzard doesn't seem to be acknowledging this at all. I checked the forum hoping for an announcement, "We are aware of the problem and working to fix it as soon as possible." No such luck. People have had these problems for weeks and Blizzard is putting the burden on users, telling them they need to try a bunch of fixes (that don't work). I don't need to stick around for this. I remember how bad it was last time I was a subscriber and 7 days in my subscription, I have already canceled. If Blizzard fixes this promptly and credits time I couldn't play (i.e., if Blizzard shows they give a rat's ass and don't take my subscription for granted), I may stick around. It looks very unlikely at this juncture. I'm going to buy Civilization 5 on Nov. 29, when my WoW subscription ends.

Q u o t e:
They claim the disconnection problems are confined to only specific battlegroups -- more excuses.

Actually there are many different types of issues out there, Huntressia, many with the same symptoms that have nothing to do with one another. The thread from earlier was regarding disconnection issues that a few Battlegroups were experiencing and which has since been resolved.

No excuses were posted, only that we were aware of the issue and that it was being looked into. If you are experiencing disconnection issues on all realms then obviously, your issue isn't the same.

Q u o t e:
People with all different ISPs are having problems only with WoW and nothing else.

An online game, such as this, operate differently from other games. You can play other games, stream movies, etc... but those activities do not require the same resources or are exchanging data at the rate WoW does.

I opened a ticket, but since the game won't connect at all, I don't know if it was handled.

I would recommend contacting Tech Support directly as they are the best equipped to help you troubleshoot the issue. If the posts in the Tech Support forum are not providing the assistance you need there are other methods of contact, such as by e-mail/webform or by phone.

They will probably blame my system, as they always do, even though my current system always worked fine before.

Things change, information is updated and your system may need to be adjusted to accommodate those changes, Huntressia. You may believe that since it worked before the patch it should work after the patch but this is the what happens with MMORPG's such as WoW. Additional content is introduced, changes are made, upgrades are applied, etc. . . . In the majority of the patches applied previously you may have not had any issues and been able to simply download the patch and play but occasionally you may need to do more. Update drivers, make adjustments to how something is configured, etc. . . .

In most cases we try to make such requirements rare but they are needed from time to time. I am sorry for what frustration and inconvenience that may cause you but we want you to be able to play and we will try to work with you to make sure that you can.

Please look through the available links in the Tech Support forum and try some of the troubleshooting steps. Give them a call or e-mail them if those steps do not work for you.

Unfortunately, given the level of code of conduct violations in this thread I will need to lock it. I'll be editing them out of the posts this time around but please refrain from further violations of our policies, Huntressia. I understand you are frustrated with the tech issue you have been having but it is best to use language that will allow you to retain your voice here.

Good luck.
