I thought my lag issues had finally been resolved, past 7pm and no lag, yay! Then I tempted Tymora toof ar by trying an instance. Lag spiked to 4000, so I tried to get out. Had to ALT-Tab and close Wow, but when I tried getting back in, I keep getting "A Character with that name already exists." Not sure what to do now, except break down into wracking sobs?

Some help with at least recovering this toon would be gratefully accepted.

That particular message indicates that the character in question still exists in the world.

Usually, this resolves itself within oh 5-10ish minutes all on it's own when the character auto-logs.

Another method you can try is to log into a character on the same realm, that will often force the first one offline.

Should that also not seem to help, you can petition with the keyword 'stuck' from another character and ask that particular character be moved/forced out of the world. We do try to keep an eye out for those and get players back into game as quickly as we possibly can.
