So yesterday a friend of mine got hacked, he mailed blizz, did what it had to be done in order to regain hes account. At the end a Blizz staff told him that the email he recieved was indeed from a hacker inside blizz staff.

So guys be carefull even from blizz mails, be causious.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

could give you much more information, along with his real ID but its not apropriate, this is no bullsh*t im not trolling here, im just a good guy that wanted to inform the wow community.

Story goes like this: He got an email from [email protected] etc etc. there he was asked if he wanted to participate in a cataclysm promo, so he puted hes account information INCLUDING SECRET QUESTION. The next day he had no account (stole all hes stuff and changed realm).

After that, he mailed blizz and they fixed it. But 2 days afterwards he was hacked because the hacker knew hes secret question.

1 week later the problem is solved and after all blizzard explained him that it was indeed a mail from blizz staff and they are investigating the matter.

I cant say much more so its up to you if you want to believe me.

but let me say this again, im not trolling, im saying the truth and this friend of mine is one i know since we were kids but no info i will give about him besides hes a hunter lvl 80 named Miecel in Ragnaros and was hacked this way.

I would like to clarify that the e-mail your friend received was NOT from a Blizzard employee, Straiter; nor was it sent by someone that has access to send an e-mail from our official e-mail address. First and foremost, there is absolutely no reason for someone here to “hack” your account. Simply put, if I wanted to gain access to any of your characters I could through our tools, mate. Make no mistake, there would be severe repercussions if I was stepping outside the strict rules we have here, but it is possible.

Now that is out of the way, it sounds as if your friend received a phishing e-mail with a spoofed header-Dienekes, sounds like this is what happened in your dad's case as well. I would strongly suggest that you both take a look at our How to Identify Fake or Phishing Emails Support Article: (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=25133) to better familiarize yourselves with the threats of fake e-mails sent from "Blizzard"
