Depending on the error, Naknek, the cause could be for a variety of reasons. Usually an error indicates that the provided payment method is incompatible in some way with the selected online purchasing system (in this case, a digital upgrade). This doesn't mean that the payment method is invalid or in poor standing. Rather, it's just a sign that something isn't syncing up with the online transaction.
If you haven't done so already, make sure that your account's billing information is up to date. If you continue to receive an error you can try clearing your cookies/cache and reloading your browser or even try an alternate browser if you can. If this persists I'm afraid you will need to contact our Billing and Account Services department directly.
