But it wont let me delete my characters because i am the "arena team captain and must pass the leader to someone else"
How am i supposed to do this if i cant even view the arena teams?

If you can't pass on leadership, you might want to ask for assistance with this in an ingame petition. Ask that the Captain's position be reassigned.
