Account hacking in progress

I was unable to login to my account for some reason then I got a message saying my account was locked. I didn't think anything of it since I have an authenticator and thought it might be due to the repeated attempts of logging in. I've had problems since the patch.

I just found out from my friend that someone is hopping from toon to toon. I need to have my account locked for the moment. I chagned my password and e-mail but that may not have been enough or I was too late. I will be running scans on my computer to find the source of the problem.

Can I start the restoration process here or do I need to do that in game if my characters have been stripped? How is it they are getting past the authenticator?

This acct ? If not, just a character name and realm will let me locate it.

With an authenticator, that means some very nasty malware. Have you downloaded any new mods lately, and if so, where did you get them.

Well, I do see they were in briefly, but it doesn't take long.

Doesn't look like anything actually got shipped off the account yet.

To get around an authenticator takes a very specific type of malware. Were you trying to log in and could not - or get knocked offline?

In essence, you are connecting to them and they have a very tiny window of opportunity to log in. One of the popular ways to distribute that is by hiding it with addons and distributing them from fake look-alike sites that sponsor links on Google.

Just don't try to log in until you are positive you are secure - and they shouldn't be able to regain access.

Oh - there were things sold, they just didn't get finished.

Once you are back ingame, just submit a petition so we can look into undoing the damages.

I'd also recommend not spending the funds they generated but couldn't yet make off with :)
