Blues, let's talk about this 371 thing

Zarhym, Bashiok, all you other guys with blue text...let's talk.

I've never made a post trying to 'call you guys out' before, so to speak, and I don't really want you to think of this as one of those posts either. I'm not looking to put you in my crosshairs. But I am a little upset here, and I want to make it known.

Yes, this about the pvp gear suddenly being updated after one week of off-season pvp. For those who don't know, there's already a monster thread about it here:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2743690992

Now, this post isn't really about the gear. Otherwise I'd just post in that thread. This post is about me giving you guys a piece of my mind over a related issue.

You guys (Blizzard) screwed up. You knew the season was ending right before AV call to arms, which is traditionally the 800-lb gorilla of pvp weekends, and you made the season 9 gear purchasable with honor. You had to know - you had to know that people would be playing up a frenzy over the weekend to get that gear and get a jumpstart on season 10.

A lot of players, including me, spent a great deal of their time this weekend hoping to do jsut that. Fortunately for me, I'm one of the lucky ones - this isn't my main, and my real motivation for getting the gear was just because it looked cool on him.

Some people weren't that lucky.

We spent a lot of time playing those AVs, running through enchanting materials and spending gold like water to get our new stuff decked out. And even if we only wanted the weapons (I really wanted that gun) the way the honor cap and the weapon restrictions work, we pretty much had to buy that gear - there was no room for saving.

And then, today, we logged in and found out all that work was for nothing. There's better gear purchasable by honor, and the only thing all that time spent killing Vanndar and Drek'thar got us was an outdated, inferior set of gear.

How many people would have done that grind if we had known the truth? I don't think I would have - I would have worked on my last two loremaster zones on my mage. Or leveled my worgen some. Instead, to my name I have what is essentially a 'lost weekend' of AV.

You guys bait and switched us. Whether intentional or not, that's what you did.

------------------------------------------

Now, let's get down to the real point of this post:

A bait and switch scam like this would destroy a lesser mmo that didn't have WoW's history. It would drastically hurt the playerbase and wreck the players' trust in the design team.

Is this going to destroy WoW? No, of course not. But it is going hurt WoW. This has cost you the trust of a lot of players, and let's be frank here - you guys have both The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2 breathing down your necks. You guys can't afford a player/designer breach of trust like this. WoW has everything to lose and your competition has everything to gain.

I'm not making this a threat. I'm not raging at you guys. I'm not saying "fix this or I go to TOR!" I'm staying with WoW. I like Warcraft. I like Blizzard. I've been playing your games since you guys made the original Orcs & Humans and Lost Vikings.

But you guys made a big mistake here. And just saying-

You are correct. The season transition and introduction of new PvP items was different this time around, and we apologize for the lack of advanced warning.

-is not going to restore the faith you've burned with a lot of players. You guys are going to need to dig deep in the coming months. Really put effort into helping us wipe the bitter taste out of our mouths. Learn from this. Be more careful. You guys have put so much effort into the blogs, the AskDevs, the twitter Q&As, and just posting on the forums that it would be terrible to see the game go because of an issue that could easily have been avoided by better communication with the playerbase.

We're your fans, Blizzard.

We give you our money.

We like you guys. We really do.

But this...is unacceptable.

I understand where you're coming from, but this still doesn't warrant a new thread's creation.
