Stuck on "Retrieving Item Information..."

Been having this happen a lot over the last few days. Item vendors (specifically every vendor who sells swag for currencies other than gold) will display the icons and price for their wares but not the item label. When I mouse over the icon to try and interact, I get a tooltip notice that reads "Retrieving Item Information..." and cannot purchase or even interact with said item.

I've had the exact same thing happen with some items in my bags that you're supposed to click on to interact with, but these usually resolve themselves after re-logging. I did have one unfortunate instance where I couldn't complete Heroic Oculus because I was unable to click any of the dragon sigils to summon a flying mount; that was a case where re-logging didn't help at all.

Latency and game settings don't seem to have an effect on this either, as I've been consistently green since the patch and I can perform any other action lag-free. So far I've tried restarting the game client and turning off and deleting all addons, but this error persists. I'm not quite sure where to go from here. Is this known issue?

I'm not sure why this is happening, but what that means is that only partial information has been delivered to your client.

While you may have uninstalled your addons, did you do a full reset UI? Changes can happen in the three folders involved in that process that can impact your gameplay even if your addons no longer exist.

I'd recommend giving that a try first.

To do a full reset UI, you will want to save your addons in another spot if you wish to preserve them.

Then rename/delete or move your WTF, Cache and Interface folders while WoW is shutdown. Reboot your system.

Note, if you are running Vista make sure your permissions are set so it does not undo your changes.

More detailed instructions for different operating systems, including Macs are here.
