My Main Account no longer exists??!

Hello,
I have just finished my 7-8day long holiday and came back to find that my account no longer exists my characters exist but i cant access them every time i try log in it would come up with wrong password so i go to retrieve my password and it tells me my account doesn't exist, so i tried making a new one under the same name password and everything the same but it made a trial account so that idea backfired. So i revived this old account in order to see if my main character "Woodyswarr" is logged in sure enough he is and i look him up in the armoury and his second spec has changed from the one i gave him and also his gear is all different and he has been logged into in the last 2 days not by me either. if i could get my old account back i would be eternity grateful.

Could you give me another character name/realm on that account so I can see if I can locate it?

Yeah, definitely compromised - and they changed your email on the account, which is why you can't find it.

In this case, I strongly suspect your actual email has been compromised, I've asked this be locked down for you for the time being - that will get them off, and keep them off the account. I've also asked restoration work be looked into on this.

Now, we normally send an email with further instructions on how to get this unlocked, but if your email itself is compromised, that's not going to do a lot of good. What I recommend in this case is first - make absolutely certain your system is secure - AND your email, or better yet, after you know your system is secure, setup another totally unrelated email to use for this account.

Then, contact Billing for assistance in getting this changed for you over the phone. That effectively changes your account name.

By that time, your restoration will likely be complete and we can get you back into control of this account.

Do you ever play from another system? If so, it's very important any system you've used - even to just post on these forums be secured as well.


Right now, security is the main concern so they can't get back in. If they can....they WILL be back, that is very likely.

This sticky may be useful. This is already in process so submitting that request isn't necessary, but there is good security information in this post.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.

Billing won't be open for a few hours, the Australian one usually works in New Zealand, there may be country codes involved.

Another method of contact you could try is Skype. Many of our international players report good results with that program.
