on the account preferences page under REAL ID it says

-----------------
If Real ID is activated, the real first and last name associated with the account (your real name) will be visible to others.
-----------------

does this mean available to "all" others or just others that you've added to your real ID friends list. It's VERY unspecific.

Because it just says "OTHERS"

I've disabled my real id until someone clarifies this.

thanks

You will want to turn off the friends of friends setting, that is a fairly new addition to that system.

In our Real ID FAQ you can read more about this.

Q u o t e:
Can I opt out of any Real ID options?

Yes. By default, your real first and last name is visible to the Real ID friends of your Real ID friends. However, you can choose to not appear to these "friends of friends" by toggling the option in Battle.net account management (under the "Communication Preferences" section). You can also choose to not be included in "Add Facebook Friends" search results. You can also disable the Real ID feature entirely.
