Can Digital Purchase upgrade to Collector?

Situation:

I have pre-ordered a copy of the Collector's Edition from gamestop.com and will have it on the 9th or 10th, and I have two wow accounts (on the same battle.net account). I want the pet on my main account, and I would also like to play on this account when it goes live on December 7th.

Question: Can I do the digital pre-order, on my main account, then transfer the digital download key to my secondary account once I get my Collector's Edition Key for my main account?

Authentication keys are non-transferable between accounts, Pilgrimz. If you decide to upgrade the main account now digitally, you will not be able to use this key on the secondary account.

When you receive the Collector’s Edition you can then upgrade the main account to this version. Doing so will override the digital key you purchased in the meantime.

From there you would need to contact Account Services to see they would be able to provide a Standard Edition key for the secondary account. This is something we have done with past expansions but it has not been determined if this sort of request will be granted for Cataclysm upgrades.

Q u o t e:

So I can pre-order the digital copy of Cataclysm, and later upgrade that to the Collectors Edition?

Essentially overwrite the Standard Edition of Cataclysm with the Collectors Edition of Cataclysm?

I do not see why not, Netirix. The ability to upgrade expansions from Standard Editions to Collector's Editions has been available in the past so I do not know why it would not be available for Cataclysm.
