Lift of Ban for Hacked Forum Account?

Hi, I'm posting on behalf of my boyfriend (who lives in the States and I live in New Zealand) regarding his forum account which was banned due to it being hacked into back in 2006.

The hacker used the account to spam on the forums and the forum account was banned, the game account was retrieved and has been active since that date.

He's seen the new rule for cases like his where a 2 week ban from the forums is instated to straighten things out. So, if an account was banned years ago; does he have a shot at getting the ban overturned?

His account has an authenticator on it now, and he sent an e-mail to the [email protected] e-mail, but the answer received back months ago was to wait and see, so now he would like a more detailed explanation of the situation if possible.
