Cata Download & CE Version

Will the Cataclysm Collector's Edition work like the Starcraft ii version? What I mean is will the benefits of having the Collector's Edtion be tied to the Serial Number of the CE? Does the CE Pet only credit to your account when you enter the SN for the CE in Battlenet?

The reason I ask this question is I am interested in pre purchasing the Digital Download of Cataclysm so that I am ready to go at Midnight.

However, I also have pre ordered the CE because I want the pet and others things it provides.

So if I purchase the Digital Download, is the only way to then get my CE pet to overwrite the CE on Battlenet so that I effectively flushed the cost of the Digital Download down the toilet?

There needs to be a provision to "Upgrade" to the CD version, without destroying the value of the Regular Version Key. I would like to use the Regular Version Key for my Daughter's account once I upgrade to my CE Version.

In these cases that is how the upgrade would take place. Keep in mind that you are able to contact our billing and account services to discuss other options, however in most cases cd keys cannot be swapped.

Therefore I realize swapping the WOW SNs in a similar fashion could be complicated.

WoW is a bit different. The key is attached to the account, however the progress would not change like StarCraft II.
