Q u o t e:
will try to contact me with ?
I signed with one adress, got hacked. I thus changed to a different adress, that I only use for WOWing.
(As an added security measure, my account is signed in in a different languague than English)
My question : if I receive a message at my ORIGINAL mail in English, can I consider this as a fake ?
We correspond with the address on file, Leliel.
The way to tell a legitimate email from a phish, well - there are actually a few ways.
The most reliable is to pop open the internal routing headers and determine who the true sender was. The FROM in an email should never be trusted - very easy to make that say anything.
Other ways would be simply content - if the email is asking for things we never would - like your PASSWORD, that's an instant red flag.
Beware of links as well - they can easily be spoofed and redirected to look-alike sites.
While some phishes are horrid and can be spotted a mile away - others are more insidious. They sometimes actually take our 'real' emails and doctor the links, be very very careful with any email purporting to be from Blizzard, take a second and just double-check it really did come from us first.
