Racism In This Game Has Got to Stop

In almost every battlefield I enter now I'm getting comments left and right about using the "burrito server", or being a "no good Mexican", or that "your server sucks because it's the Mexican server", or "You Mexicans always make us lose", and even quite a few racial slurs and epithets have been directed at me. I'm really really sick of it. Why is this allowed to go on?

I just want to make a few things clear right now:

1. I am NOT MEXICAN!!!!!!!!!

2. I live in Chile, not Mexico. We don't eat burritos, quesadillas, or tacos in Chile.

3. I am not even Hispanic, my family history goes back to England.

4. Very very few Chileans move to the United States. Stop telling me I took your daddy's job and blaming me for your economic problems.

If I take screenshots and report people who continually make these kinds of comments will any action be taken? WoW is growing by leaps and bounds in popularity right now in this region and it would be a shame to have that ruined by idiots.

Just wanted to get that off my chest. Thanks.

First and foremost, Ricardozara, report these interactions. You don’t need to “fight back” or clarify your Genealogy / Family Heritage, there is no point in doing so and it does nothing but serves to fan the flames (or feed the trolls). Screenshots are not needed. The Game Master staff has access to some pretty awesome tools that give them the ability to extensively research interactions between players; that includes chat.

Our Harassment Policy specifically calls attention to Racial/Ethnic chat as something we will action against. You do need to report these incidents for us to take any action, though. Please be sure to open an in-game petition, and leave it open until you receive a response. If you would like to review our Harassment Policy you may do so here: (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20226).

If you actually took action, then how come so many of the racists I've reported over 6 months ago just changed names, and are still in game harassing and spamming racial slurs?

Actions taken are account wide, Sorashin. Simply changing the name does not mean we don't see your history or what actions have been taken previously. As for why it may appear as though we are not doing anything - I introduce the Penalty Volcano: (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20221).

Please understand, Sorashin, that it is not our intention to ban every account that says a bad word of violates our Harassment Policy. Rather, we would like everyone to understand our policies and abide by them, thus we offer warnings and minor suspensions before we build up to a permanent ban from the game.

Nothing wrong with a little racism here and there.

Except when it gets you removed from the forums... isn't that right, Snappedd?
